I used a can wrapped with line to catch fish with when I was a kid. Use to take a lot of Catfish that way. Works well to. But they don’t burst into flame at all. But you can get your fingers burnt by the line if you ain’t careful. Ron

That all depends on whether it is the start of the day’s fishing or the end.

None they only hold line—Just watched an old tape of LEE WULFF rim control reel that he made with no drag on a 6 foot bamboo rod.

That’s an empty can. A full can doesn’t balance the rod properly.
