I would like to thank Cheffy for the arrows and Cracker for the long bow and arrows. We had a great time at the Western National Muzzleloading in Phonenix. I begged anyone and everyone I could think of in our town to borrow a long bow and arrows for the archery part of contest. Nobody would even bother to help. However a simple post on the wanted section, lead to some great help and swaps. This is such a great web site. If you guys are ever in our area, call and I will take you on a float fishing trip on the Big Horn river.
Fishing related. We drove over Glen Canyon dam on the Colorado river. I noticed some real intersting water below the dam. Wished we had time to stop and fish. I did have fly rods packed Something of note we drove over South Pass on the Wind River mountain range and down part of the Green river and then passed over the Colorado river 1000 miles south. There are a bunch of states that rely on Wyoming water.
My ThanyYou is also a little late, I posted that I needed a reel for my daughters 4wt, Cheffy sent me one for the cost of the postage, when the reel arrived I pm’d him to arrange payment for the shipping and he said not to worry about it.
Hare’s Ear,
Great to hear of the response you got at the “wanted” post.
Now about Wyoming water. Not only do many states rely on Wyo water, they in fact OWN it. As an example, the Snake River and Jackson Lake flow/capacity are 60 % owned by Idaho in some long ago signed water rights agreement. It must have made sense to someone at the time. It has, however, handcuffed Wyo’s ability to manage it’s own precious water resources. As you probably know, in the West, water rules.
Yea, a LOT of states rely on us for water.
You must have passed thru Rock Springs, my home.
Your welcome to come back to fish some of these waters, I would love to show you a few “off the road” places.
Yes we passed through Rock Springs on the way home. However the roads were terrible on the way home, snow, ice and wind. Yes, I know that is normal for Rock Springs and Evanston. Glad we had four wheel drive because we needed it getting back over South Pass and in part of Utah that day. On the way down we went through Farson over to the cut off and down to Green River, roads were slick that way also
I would like to float the green some time. I have heard that you cannot anchor and fish from the boat when you float the green. Any truth to that story?
There are a lot of states that rely on water from Wyoming. That is why several of them are sueing Wyoming wanting more water . Someday somebody is going to realize there is not enough water to go around and it will be worse then the oil shortage.
