Skip Morris’ version of Don Earnest’s dragonfly.
hook - Dai Riki 280 #6
underbody - non-tox .025 (optional)
thread - Danville 6/0 black
tail - pheasant rump
body - beaver
hackle - hen black
Part 1
mash barb, wrap shank with non-tox; cover with thread
measure (gap width past bend) some pheasant rump fibers; tie in/trim
wax thread, lay on the better part of a beaver (you want it thick; leave the guard hairs in for good measure)
loop and lock

Part 2
spin
wrap the dubbing rope then give it a good scrub
want the hackle sparse, so strip it off one side and tie in by the tip
wrap, tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN
Regards,
Scott
Scott, Great looking fly! I like the way you used the locking technique you showed us earlier to help keep the dubbing loop tight. Thanks for sharing both the technique and this pattern.
