Any thoughts on 6/7wt Bauer Reels for use in the salt. I have a 3pc, 9ft, tip action, 6/7wt Gatti Rod that I will be casting a 6WF line with as large a fly as it will cast at schoolie stripers.
Will they take the punishment and which model do you think would serve me best?
Not familiar with the reel, but schoolies are not all that much of a load and if you give the reel a thorough rinsing you shoul be fine.

I have an old Phluger Medalist that I’ve used for stripers for 9 or 10 years and it still works fine. I always make sure I thoroughly wash it in fresh water after each use. Your Bauer reel is more than adequate as long as you take care of it.
I know a wide bunch of Gatti rod owners, none of which have resorted to using one of those reels.
I think you should look for a Hardy Zenith multiplier. Not Gatti should be seen without one.
