Tied with no specific hatch in mind (this could pass for a Fall Drake or March Brown) using materials within arms reach; change color/size to suit your needs.

hook - Dai Riki 320 #12
thread - UTC 70 grey brown
tail - deer hair dyed dark brown
rib - Uni-Stretch brown
abdomen - dubbing tan
loop - UTC 140 grey brown
hackle - grizzly dyed tan
thorax - hare’s ear dark
wing - woodduck flank

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 2/3 mark and wrap to bend

clean, stack, measure (shank length); tie in/trim, cover butts with thread

prep woodduck flank; tie in, pull to the rear for length (2x gap), trim

tie in rib

dub thread/dub abdomen

Part 2

counter wrap rib; tie off/trim

tie in loop

tie in hackle

split wing with a few Figure 8 wraps

dub thorax; finish at hackle tie-in

wrap hackle up (thorax width), and back down; tie off/trim

stroke fibers back

Part 3

pull hackle forward thru the wing; tie down

fold loop back, tie off/trim, a few more wraps to set wing angle, whip finish, SHHAN
