Flyster, A Banty is a rod that has been shotned. For example take a 9ft Boo rod, and using the tip and mid build another reel seat and grip. The new grip will have a ferrule in the end of it so it can slide onto the ferrule of the mid. Voila! You now have two rods. Long for big rivers, short for smaller streams. They dont always work out, so the best thing is test it first. Put the mid and tip together, take your reel and pull out some line. Just put reel in your pocket. Sounds crazy, but it will allow you to see if the rod will cast all right as a Banty 8)
