Baker's Dozen

I finished up the Baker’s Dozen Balsa Bugs I made as part of my gift to my grandson for his birthday present. He will also be getting a new 5wt outfit and two boxes full of flies I tied for him. These should give him a good start on the wonderful journey of fly fishing (and hopefully fly tying). https://gifyu.com/image/SCNJY

Great looking patterns and idea for a really nice presentation .Well done !

Thanks, Steve. I really enjoyed making these since they are for my grandson. I hope to teach him a bit about fly fishing in March when we visit him. Here’s a photo of the last time I took him out fish for a couple of hours off of the dock that is on the lake we live on here in Central Florida. https://gifyu.com/image/SCTSI

They always treat me well. I am truly a blessed man with a beautiful wife of 52 years, three wonderful children, and seven terrific grandchildren. I love being able to share the things I enjoy with all of them.Jim Smith

Simply FANTASTIC!!! …lee s.

Thank you for the kind words, Lee. I started carving my poppers about eight months ago and find it lots of fun and a great way to get to be a bit more creative in my fly tying. Thankfully, the fish seem to enjoy them as well.Jim Smith

Excellent work as always Jim. Dennis

Thanks, Dennis. It’s been a labor of love that I enjoyed doing since it will help me introduce one of my grandchildren to fly fishing.Jim

Those are wonderful looking poppers, Jim, and an even better gift to your grandson.I grew up a few miles south of you, and seeing those poppers and that picture of your grandson with that bass makes me think back to those days when I went bass fishing with my own grandfather on some of our local Florida lakes. I still have a few fishing related keepsakes that belonged to my grandfather, and my most cherished possession of all is a fisherman carved from wood by my great grandfather. I hope your grandson keeps those poppers for many years to come as they will mean even more to him as the years go by as they remind him of you and the times you spent together.John
