Bahama Trip---Any Pointers??

I am planning a trip to celebrate my 25th anniversary and would love to try for some bone fish in the Bahamas. I have never been ,but have heard great things on this board. I am planning a May trip.
Where should I stay? I would like to go out with a guide in the flats one day. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Norm- Congrats and happy anniversary. I wish I had some great advice to give you on places and guides, but I’ve never been down there to fish.

My impression is that many of the famous places down there (like Pelican Bay),are hard core bonefishing destinations, which may offer limited opportunities for other things besides the fishing. Peace and Plenty may be an option (www.peaceandplenty.com) to consider though. I think they have things to do besides fishing to get to the NEXT 25 years.

Here’s another, courtesy of google, but also seems to offer a variety of things to do (ecotourism, birding, diving etc), as well as lots of bonefishing options, offshore and reef fishing:

Is this the kinda thing you had in mind or more hardcore bonefishing? Or more resorty?

I hope that others that have been down there will chime in with recommendations for places to stay, guides etc.

Good luck.

PS, May also sounds like a good time for tarpon to be moving through down there too.

We’ve been a few times; check out the Bahamian Tourism page,

http://www.bahamas.com/bahamas/index.aspx

click on ‘Things to do,’ then “fishing”
Lots of choices. We’re very fond of Andros Island,
lots of fish, and big ones too.

Thanks guys!
