I’m not sure I’ve seen the Castwell knot suggested for this??? Will it work?
I just used some gel spun line for some backing and am not totally happy with the connection…[uniknot to uniknot]…seemed like the gel spun cinched down awfully tight…
It occurred to me that a loop in the gel spun would be very small and could work with a Castwell???
What say you???
I guess the basic question is…Is the Castwell Knot a good knot… backing to line… when you want to put a loop in the backing.
Incidentally one of my reasons for wanting to use a loop in the gel spun is because I know from previous experience that it has essentially no bulk.
Could…anything that catches on the ferrules is a negative and could cost a fish…read that trophy…in a perfect world, I don’t want to feel or hear a click if something goes through my ferrule…
“Maybe your not tying it correctly?”…possible… but I gotta be honest with you …I don’t think so
How does line go through the ferrules ??? The only proper join is a splice, waxed thread wound carefully, whip finished and rolled. Never known to fail if properly done. And it goes through rings like a charm. Jim Clarke

A little confused on this one. Ferrule is where
rod pieces connect, how does your line effect that?
Are you talking about GUIDES?
