Back to the traditional

This little rod is a sweet casting 8’ 2pc 5w built on a Tiger Eye blank. The grip has a rattan wrap. Feather inlay on the grip. The wraps are metallic black with a single turn gold accent. Stainless hardware finishes it off.

Very nice. That feather inlay on the grip is very cool!

That’s a beauty all right. What kind of finish is on the handle-varnish?

Dave

No, it’s Flex-Coat and it is not slippery at all.

Beautiful stick. I don’t know how you get such a nice finish on your wraps. The only way I can get a finish like that is to buy it.
That rod is fun to look at. Aren’t those Tiger Eye blanks somethin’ else?

Thank you. I really like the way this one came out. They are sweet blanks, no doubt about it.

I don’t do anything special on the wraps. I start with a coat of high build Flex-Coat and if there are any little nibs that need sliced off, I take the razor blade to them and go over the wraps with a coat of FC-Lite. Those rattan wraps always need some cleanup after the first coat of finish.

Nice blend of art and craft for a great looking stick.

Beautiful workmanship! I know that rod will be enjoyed.

That is a beauty for sure! Nice Job!
