I called my social worker yesterday to see if he could find out anything about my status for back surgery. I’m pretty sure I have bone spurs tangled up in my sciatic nerve. He called back and told me that the doctors at the Vets Hospital have scheduled viewing my MRI for Sept. 16th. That’s over a month from now. If they continue to move that slow, my IRA will be empty by the time I get back to work. IF I get back to work. This all makes for a very grumpy Lotech Joe. I’ve posted this same thing on my facebook page. I don’t understand why the the doctors have to take so much time. I’m sure that if I was in Portland and went into the emergency department there, I would get my surgery within a couple of days.
You might want to think about trying that Joe, having volunteered for 12 or so hundred hours at the VA in Roseburg, i hear very good things about Portland. 'Bout all i can say.
Luck,
MontanaMoose
Go to Portland Joe, it is your health you are talking about, don’t mess about with it.
BTW I must be more low tech than you, I don’t do Facebook! Maybe I really am a luddite.
Hope all goes well for you.
All the best.
Mike
I sometimes try Hi-Tech, but every time I do, I prove to myself that I am indeed Lotech.;-)
Keep your chin up and let your Heart smile Sir
I can’t comment on your reply in this forum the way I want to, so I’m sending you a PM.
Joe, read it again. I think he’s trying to be encouraging. It’s easy sometimes to misread a post and very easy to transfer anger at pain we can’t touch to someone we can yell at. Been there, done that and the crow didn’t taste good.
It’s OK rainbowchaser he understood what I meant Thanks… we wont have meet up at high noon …lol
He Thank’t me for the kind words…lol… so it’s ok, he has dignity and wanted to gather what i was saying…and I do think he is a very kind man that needed a smile and I would put a wager he is smiling or at least I hope so.
Nice man indeed and evidently you as well have it in you…it’s called a Smiling Heart.
Thanks
I have lots of reasons to smile. And I’m smiling now. I just sometimes want folks to know how I feel and handle what bothers me. This issue bothers me, and my friends here at FAOL always make me smile. Thanks everybody!!!
Come on down to the VA in Jackson Mississippi. Then While you wait/recoup… we can chase bluegills, bass and see if we can stir up a few moccasins! Get well soon my friend.
mnlagoon is right…you will need LOTS of physical therapy …
Gotta remember ya cant let the pain meds fool you into feelin better and over due your activitees…cough man cough.
You’ll be good ta go perty soon
Joe,
If things are not moving right, talk with the VFW or American Legion Service Officers for Washington. They know how the VA operates intimately and can advise you or possibly help speed things up. These guys are paid by the VFW and American Legion to help vets with the VA. You do NOT need to be a member of either organization to get their help.
Call Department HQ for either organization and they can get you the Service Officer’s number.
Rainbow,
Thanks for thinking of my welfare. I guess I should have mentioned that the only reason I couldn’t respond on this forum was for religious reasons.
Thanks Again,
I guess I’m the one who misunderstood a post this time. Just as well: every time I get in between two guys who are fighting I get hit. Sorry guys.
Dont worry we love you too man…lol
Apology unnecessary. You were well intended and there was no offense taken.
LoTech Joe:
I know all about pinched sciatic nerve, I suffered from sciatica for many years, because of my Anklosis Spondylitis (rare form of arthritis, men get it 5 times as much as women). I spent years of having my back adjusted by a two chiropractors, need two to do the adjustments. I would walk in for treatment on crutches, and leave doing a “Jig”, or at least that is how it felt (before & after).
In my case because of the Anklosis Spondylitis, surgery was not an option. Have they done any testing for arthritis? That would be a Rheumatologist to determine if you have Arthritis.
It is hell to get old, but I prefer the getting old, than the other option…
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
PS: Just want you to know that I am still using the WaterSkeeter that you sold me, it is the only way I am able go fly fishing, as because of my Anklosis Spondylitis, I can only walk or stand for short period of time. The kicking around the lake/pond in the WaterSkeeter, does not stress my body, so I can still enjoy fly fishing! I even have a Permanent Handicap Placard for my vehicle. ~Parnelli
As a fellow disabled vet get in touch with the Hospital Administrator, it shouldn’t take them a month just to set up a viewing!!! To show them how serious you are go to the ER every single day TWICE a day and complain about the pain cause they can’t get off their ***. It works.
