August 2015 SOTM

Looks as if I am leading for August. This year has been a challenging one for me with new patterns and techniques I am unfamiliar with and I am continuing that with this month. This month’s theme will be hair, any style, pattern or hair as long as it contains hair will be accepted. Let’s see what trouble we can get into. Happy tying.

[Edit]

Some time ago I received a grab bag of five different pieces of hair, one I think is wool (95% sure). I will make something from it, still researching a pattern.

  2. Rick Z: Hares ear type fly with Icelandic Horse hair - RECEIVED

I will do a Hares ear type fly with the Icelandic Horse hair I have.
Lots of panfish on this fly.

Rick

I will start on Black Nose Dace once I get July’s in the mail.

Stimulator Color to be determined.

I’m in with a deer hair mouse, maybe Morish or similar!

I have decided to tie up some Darkside flies.

Bottle tubes with goat hair orange yellow orange, Mickey Finn style.

Flies went in the mall today. Don’t send one of mine back to me.

Rick

No pattern yet, still working on July waiting on materials. It’s likely to be a large bass or muskie fly. Luke

Thinking about tying an old favorite- the Half and Half, but thinking I might get more adventurous and spin some hair.
