Whoa!
i’m ata loss for words!
what does it do
That’s a purty one, alright.
It is used to hold any material for a dubbing loop, like what the bull dog clips used to do, works for CDC Deer hair etc… you put the material in between the long steal rods, they spread apart then close and hold close to hold the material…

Here’ s link on how to use it

This starts out with the Marryat CDC tool (also, way kewl!!). Watch the entire clip … what fun!!!
Kewl, ech???
so $45 machined tool works better than a 99 cent bulldog clip?
what are we missing here?
Buddy you and I did not miss a thing, not throwing away my clips any time soon…
Solution in search of a problem.
The MP Pliers looked cool though.
Sorry Normand,
Did I ever say anything about it being a good buy, or able to preform task like NO OTHER tool ever created? I believe I used words like “Kewl” “fun” and “whoa!”.
All that with standing … I’m gunna get me one!! HA!! I like it!
wait til you see the new tool for making extended mayfly bodies from renzetti that fly tyers will simply not be able to live without!
its in the new issue of fly tyer magazine.
its simply a bent up piece of wire! OK, you get 3 pieces of bent up wire and i can only imagine how renzetti will over price it!
sorry betty, but i have alot of better things to do with my money and thats not one of them.
if it floats your boat then go for it!
Just wait, soon some really creative tool designers will come up with something that will do away with you using your fingers. Just other examples of following the money…
Go for it girl!
It’s a beautiful tool.
Betty, you enjoy that thing, whatever the heck it is.
But one question… when/which fly does one use deer hair in a dubbing loop? Nothing’s ringing a bell.
Betty,
If that thingamabob rings your bell…then go for it and enjoy it. It’s only money, right?
Diane,
There are several patterns from Europe that I’m aware of the use deer hair spun in a loop for fly bodies. When trimmed they are very buggy looking, not densly packed or stacked. Deer hair and other hairs are spun in a dubbing loop to make hair hackle collars on flies as well.

Hey Betty, if YOU like it, I suggest you get TWO. Cary might like it too.
Ed
I think it is a great looking piece of expensive equipment. Others include:
Titanium pliers for removing hooks or what have you. my leatherman works fine…and has other uses
I have coveted one of the E-Z hair stackers since I first saw them…but at $30+ for a hair stacker, it ain’t happenin’!
I bought a Dr Slick tool for holding hair while you tie it in…fingers work WAYYY better.
Well, yah … but you’ve got to admit, it’s really pretty!!
Buy two of them? I don’t think so! Not at that price!! Cary will just have to use the big black clips!!
Oh, and Normand … that new extended body thingie looks really kewl, too!!!
Now Young Lady, THAT isn’t the Chistmas spirit. Shame on you.
Regards,
Ed
It looks alright but doesn’t seem like it would work with smaller materials where clips are better. I might try one for using longer dubbings etc… and making small brushes as it seems stacking material would be pretty easy with that design.
