"Atta boy" for NuCanoe

Just a note to thank NuCanoe for what they did for me plus let others know that “customer service” still lives with some businesses.

In an effort to make some modifications on my 10’ NuCanoe I damaged a part one of the optional pieces of equipment that I purchased for my boat. The damage did not make the optional equipment un-useable. The damage was more cosmetic than anything else, but, I just could not live with it, so, I contacted Blake at NuCanoe by e-mail and explained what I had done and asked him to sell me the part of the optional equipment that I had damaged so that I could replace the damaged part and my NuCanoe would look like I wanted it to. I also sent him pictures of the finished modification which he said he appreciated because they are constantly looking for ways to improve their product and all feedback from their customers would be taken into consideration and to continue to keep him informed on any more modifications. He also told me that he understood that the damage was not a failed part and that I had caused the damage, but, they were going to send me the part for me to replace at no charge to me!

Now that is what I call customer service and I really appreciated it. Being a strong supporter of customer service and knowing from experience that every dollar I spend on customer service usually comes back two-fold +, I was impressed with the service they provided and will continue to promote their great boat. I really am enjoying my 10’ NuCanoe and the service I just received from NuCanoe and Blake.

“Thanks Blake and NuCanoe”…

Hey, how 'bout some pictures of the mods for us?

I’m trying to talk the wife into spending the “Economic Stimulus Check” on one of them NuCanoes.

Yes, Buddy, I too would like to see these “mods” on your new yacht!
Haven’t seen any photos of the Nucanoe in action, since the “Amazon River pics” a while back!?!
As to the “customer service”, it’s always great to hear stories like yours, since “REAL” customer service, such as you were given, seems to be antiquated in this country any more.

I will see if I can post a picture of my modification tonight with explanation on how I completed it.

swen,

Here is a picture of the Wise seat base attached to the lid on the optional Storage Box for the NuCanoe. The Wise seat base allows you to slide the swivel and seat on the base to use and to remove it for hauling. The base is mounted onto alum. angle and the 4 bolts at the corners of the square go through the lid and on the bottom of the lid I have 1" wide alum. strips in place of washers for more support. I discovered if you drill a hole about the center of the cup holders on the storage box, you can fasten the box down by threading an eye bolt into the pre-threaded holes that are for fastening the seats down with. Sorry for the size of the picture…

swen,

Here is a picture with the seat installed on the Wise seat base. By drilling the hole in the center of the cup holders, I am able to slide the Storage Box with attached seat to the back or center and just fasten it down into the threaded holes already in the boat. So far, this is working great. The added seating height makes paddling even more easier and the seating more comfortable.

swen,

Here is a picture of the Storage Box lid opened showing the 1" alum. strips with the 4 bolts coming through. I added the strips since the lid is double walled and hollow in the center. This gives more support for the bolts holding the seat base on the lid. In the other picture showing the seat base you will notice I slid a piece of alum. channel under the two alum. angles at about the center. This was done since the lid had a concaved center and the alum. channel just provides a little more support. It is put in prior to tightening the 4 bolts and is held in place this way and does not need any screws. Sorry about having to make individual post, but, I have not figured out how to do thumbnails yet…

Warren,

You better patent that idea. I am sure the folks at NuCanoe are seeing $ signs with that design.

Nice design. I like that storage feature. Nice and compact design. You gotta love it!

Warren, thank you for the pictures, nice work on the mods.

And here it is!!

Looks really nice Warren.

Beautiful, workmanship and a great idea, my friend!! Nice going!! I’d guess, too, besides being more comfortable seating, that higher seat makes for easier casting and keeping the line a little “higher up”, on the back casts,as an added advantage.
The way you keep “modifying” your new car top yacht, I imagine it won’t be too long, now, before the “twin-200hp Mercruisers” are installed on the “custom transom” you come up with!?!

Paul,

Funny you should mention the “twin 200hp Mercury outboards”!

I was thinking more on mounting them up front with wings fabricated from balsa, to keep the weight down, so that, if I wanted to clear a log jam, I could just “goose” the throttle a little and the wings would give me the lift needed to just go over the top rather than around…mind you, this mod is still in the “thinking” stage…I have not perfected it yet!!:)…mmmmm, oh, maybe mount a VW engine with prop to make an air boat…WOW! I like that idea too!!!

I need to go fishing so that I can think these other ideas through…

(OOOps! NOW, what have I started?)
