Got my leave slip signed, flies and fishing gear accumulating in a pile on the table over there, CDC being sorted so I can tie as many more Octobers as I can before the trip. That Cabelas 10% off coupon and the $20 rebate in my pocket might turn into a TFO 1wt just for kicks, too.
Ants. Don’t forget ants. And that means 5x too. Hmmm.
Packing for Idaho? Not yet. Working on the camper and making large piles? For sure! Will be fishing in Wisconsin, South Dakota, Montana and several places before the Fish In, so my list will be a little larger that yours!
My Kitchen Table is piled high with clothes and other gear for WI, SD, MT, ID, and back!! I have reduced my fly tying stuff from a 32. gal container to a 25 gal. by tying flys out of it for 6 weeks. I have also reduced the size of my Fishing Gear Bag by 50%, just too much junk packed!
Nice looking caddis Dennis and as I GAVE ALL MY CDC TO KABOOM1!! I may have to pick up some more at one of the many Cabela’s we will pass on the trip West. Last year I had a Caddis land on my boot that looked just like that!!
I have a Geroge Dickle License plate for the camper as well as some nice bumper stickers to enhance the decor!!
If ya don’t use the same kinda CDC that DG uses, the flies don’t work at all. So, unless you have CDC from ducks from Colorado mountain lakes your flies won’t work. I do understand DG has small packets of said Colorado CDC he might part with for some really good root beer. (Dennis, please send the $10 to my local addressw.)
I tied most of them on #10 standard dry hooks in the past. I would have to see what the pack of hooks I got last fall was. Not enough CDC to tie many, but enough to get me through. I need to shoot bigger ducks. Easy to find CDC for 16s, tough to find for 10s and up.
If I make it at all It will be the last couple of days and I will be traveling light headed back to work in Salt lake by then (I think).
It will be power fishing and good time with old friends.
Hope to see there.
Uncle Ron Tucker-Not-Carlos will not be with me so you will have to leave his “pets” at home so you will have a little more room in the rig.
Once again this get together kind of overlaps my trip to the Grande Ronde. This year I think I will be up by Boggans the first week of Oct. If any have a mind to head home via hyway 129 give a shout and we can chase some desert summer runs together.
Ok, so what night is the pot luck? My wife and I are going to try and make it and would love to make it for the pot luck. Only problem is that she is a teacher and may not be able to get time off to get there earlier in the week.
