Are these of any value....

My wife’s grandfather has a few pieces of fly fishing equipment that he’d like to know the value of. I’m no expert, so I thought I’d putit out there.

He has two bamboo rods (both were his father’s). One has no distinguishing marks what-so-ever, so we’ll forget about that one for now. The other is a 9’ 3-section bamboo rod. The only label reads “Geniune Tonkin Beaver Lake.” That’s all the info I have on that one.

He also had two reels. The first I doubt has much value. It’s label read “Rainbow 72” and it was made in Japan.

The other was a Condex reel made by JW Young and Sons in Redditch, England.

Any info. about these pieces would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Andrew

Anthony, go and peruse Ebay. THere are usually lots of Young/Condex reels there.

Your Condex reel depends on the condition. Is it black or gray? Good condition, $40.00 to $65.00 maybe a bit more,in my opinion. The Condex will be a good reel for size 6 to 7 line and match rods in that line size.
I am sure there will be others who will give you good advise on your rods. Good luck, Jonezee

Thanks for the info…

Anyone know anything about the rod?

The rod sounds like a Horrock-Ibbitson to me.
Low end production rod.
