Let’s do something different. This swap will be for 12 tiers, your favorite SPIDER (yeaaaach!) patterns. Let’s see your ugliest, meanest and scariest spiders. Sign-up deadline will be May 15, and flies due by June 10th. Toe tags, return postage and all the amenities, please. This should be interesting.
Count me in will tie a Stewart’s Spider
If it is ok I would like to get in on this one with what I call a Puff Paint Black Widow. Thanks John
I would think that there would be many of you that tie some type of spider fly. This does look like it could turn into a fantastic swap. Lets see if we can fill it up. John
I second Bassman. There are some neat pattern if you whant help finding one E-Mail have 2 or 3 suggestions.
I’ve never done this before, but I’d like to get in on it. “Royal Spider” so named by St. Paul the confused. It’s the only spider I know and one that I came up with after checking out the cap spider video… It’s not a cap spider though…
How many? Where to? What size? Pardon my ignorance, but this is my first time in a swap and this seems like a good one to get in on.
joe, I am not running the swap but I think Gigmaster is out of town right now. You will need to tie up 12 for the swap. When Gigmaster gets back on here he will tell you how to ship to him. John
Folks this is starting to develop into a pretty good swap. I am sure there are more of you that want to join in on this one. Lets help Gigmaster have a real nice swap and fill this one up. John
I have my flies tied up and ready to go just waiting to see if this one is going to continue. This is a chance for a lot of you creative tiers to try your hands at spiders. Thanks John
OK, you’re all in! Sorry for the delay. I got woke up at 3:00AM and had to go out of town. I just got back. The list is updated. And I appreciate everyones participation (and patience).
joerogrz: All you have to do is tie 12 flies of your pattern. Put a label on each hook with your name and the name of the pattern (we call them 'toe-tags). Then, put them in a crush-proof box (don’t worry. You’ll get it back) and mail them to me, along with return postage (or it’s equivalent in stamps). My mailing address is at the top of all my posts. When all the flies are received, I will sort them out into 12 assortments and mail them back to all the participants. So everyone will get thier mailing box back with one each of 12 different patterns. Swaps are very addictive. And you’re gonna be amazed at the quality of the flies. Not only are most people (in fact, as far as I know, ALL) on this site quality tiers, but quality people as well. Don’t worry. Go ahead and come in with us. We’ll talk you through it if needed. And we can always extend the deadlines. They aren’t written in stone. The idea is to have fun!
We got four tiers. Come on, folks! Let’s see what you’re made of. Bring me your Ugly, your Mean, Your Disgusting! No pattern is too hideous! We need your Creepies, your Crawlies, your finest examples of Arachnid splendor!
I am looking forward to seeing what patterns show up. I am trying to create a tarantula pattern for bass. If it works, I’m calling it the Brown Charlotte.
Thanks again, everyone.
I know their are a lot of folks out there that tie spider flies. For those of you that don’t here is your chance. Many times I have been on the water and see a spider fall in and it is almost always gulped down by a fish. Spiders are great to fish with. Come on folks lets fill this one up you will not be sorry. You will be amazed at the different types of spiders that different folks tie. Be innovative and see what you can come up with. John
Where is ev everyone? Out fishing???
There is no need to feel intimidated by this swap. ANY spider pattern will qualify, from foam bluegill spiders to whatever you feel like tying.
Perhaps I did not allow enough time on this swap. If no one has any objections, I will extend the deadline to May 31, with flies due by June 30. Let’s see if we can get a few more participants. We will go with whoever we have on May 31.
Sounds good to me. John
Gigmaster,
Oh how I wish I could get in on this one!! Unfortunately I don’t have the time right now
wish I did…I can’t believe this one didn’t fill up right away! Good luck with the swap, I envy all who get to participate

My Black Widows are in the mail and on there way. Thanks again for letting me join in on this fun swap. John
More questions…
What type of crush-proof box is everyone using, and how do I pay for return postage?
Also, If there aren’t enough people for the swap, do I go ahead and tie up 12?
Sorry for the questions… First swap…
I use small cardboard boxes. For return postage, you can just enclose the correct amount of stamps, or a Money Order.
Go ahead and tie up 12. We will go with who we have on the 31st. We may all get several of each pattern.
Just two days left. There’s plenty of room for some more tyers.
Just put 12 Spiders in the mail. Keep extras for yourself or divied them between the tyers. dont return any flies I tyed to me. Thank’s for the swap
