I am willing to tie every month. All I have ever really tied is trout flies though. But I am willing to learn anything. But if the swaps are full etc no big thing. Was just wanting and excuse to spend more time at the vice.
This is just an idea I thought I would kick around. Other than hosting, there is really no reason why we have to limit this swap to just 12 tyers. Some people may not really care about hosting, and just like to tie. I am sure that hosting is a real pain for people outside the US, and I suspect some International tyers do not join the swap for that reason, which is a shame. We have proven ourselves to be a very amiable and accommodating lot, and I am sure that the hosting roster can be worked out among us.
Here is what I propose: That we open the swap to as many people as would like to join, as long as they commit to staying in it for the rest of the year. We can adjust the hosting roster as needed. Each month, we tie enough files for everyone to get a set, and the host for that month sets the theme.
What do y’all think? If you’d rather not comment in public, feel free to send me a PM. If we need to vote on it, we can do it with secret ballot PMs.
It is my opinion that this will allow a greater number of tyers to benefit from our incredible swaps (and they have all been incredible…).
I don’t want to cause any static if there is no room its not a huge deal ill just try and sign up next year. If you all could fit me in I will be very appreciative. I will do my best to tie good quality flies. I see you all tie some unique themed flies. This could be a great opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone so to speak, I could either fail miserably or excel. I would enjoy hearing feed back on the flies I tie so that I can improve my skills.
Thank you all. When is the deadline I don’t want to disappoint anyone by being late on my first entry. I also assume Ill have to pm billhouk to get the address to send the flies to Self addressed envelope etc.
