I have been making glow jigs and flies for about 10 years and have decided to shaw this if there is interest. I am already sharing this with a bunch of jig tiers, but want to see if any of you wan to know. See pictures below…Also these pictures were taken just by holding the glowing bait under my tying table without turning out the overhead light.

I have been using glow material for years. At one time all you could get was a paint from Herters. Much more variety in materials today.

I have some stuff kind of like flashabou, made by Kreinik, that I have meant to use for years, maybe this will get me to use it.
I have glow beads and nail polish, just haven’t got around to using them.

This I think would be way more bright and glow longer.
I remember that Herters glow paint. It smelled like rotten eggs.
As a kid, I painted the stripes of a football with it. Activated it with a flashlight, fun playing catch in the dark.

No, I will post what I do today and include a few pics of materials I use. This is different than anything I have seen while I have been tying these. I spent a ton of time on the phone talking to companies about their products 10 years ago to figure this out what to use and how.
Do the glow jigs/flies produce better?
Very interested. Are you going to do a swap? Fly of the Week? Post instructions on this forum? Or all of the above? Jim
Have not thought about that, but would do what ever everyone wants. I did post it on the board here earlier. Also guys don’t forget you could even make a glow extended type fly, like a dragonfly tail?
Lots of guys tell me they do a lot better on glowing jigs or even just the head of a jig painted with glow paint. However what I do is so much brighter than the paint they sell now. I use clear powder paint and add the glow powder to that to make a head powder paint.
Thanks Skip. I saw your post on “how to” and tried to delete my post. But I guess it didn’t take as I see it still there. I have been interested in the glow stuff for awhile now. Glow furled leaders, etc. Thanks for sharing. Jim
