Any rhyme or reason to split shot sizing?

I know that when it came to shotshell pellets it used to be the number of pellets that come from 1 lb. of lead (i.e. 1lb would yield 6 pellets of #6, or 8 pellets of the smaller #8)

Is there a standard for the sizing of split shot?

Do you have a favorite non-toxic brand of split shot?

exactly the same sizing for splitshot fisherpup. they were originally shot that were split to use for fishing

I use Dinsmore in sizes SSG down to #12. It’s made in England and is softer so it doesn’t damage your line as much.
