Antelope Popper

I love fishing for smallmouth bass, specially using surface flies. I decided to try and copy one of the pencil poppers that other fishermen seem to have good luck with.

This is what I came up with. I have not fished it yet, but will try it this summer. The fly is tied on a 4X long, straight-eye streamer hook. The body on this fly is about 1" long. The tail is some pheasant rump w/ some Krystal Flash.

Regards,

Alberto

Alberto,

Nice trimming job. What thread do you use to tie the antelope?

Allan

tyeflies,

I use Danville’s Flat Waxed Nylon for all of my hair bugs. I have used Kevlar and GSP but like the Flat Waxed Nylon much better.

Alberto

Really Cool fly. Good Job!

C’mon Alberto…you didn’t tie THAT fly. It looks too perfect! G

Put some Watershed on her, let it soak in and she’ll float better and longer when you fish it later with another floatant…

(Very nice fly!!)

Jeremy.

I can’t spin hair for the life of me. Every time I see a beautiful fly like this it makes me try again. Nice Job!

Alberto, Danville Flat Waxed is my choice also, with Gudebrod size A rodwrapping thread in second place.

NICE!

Very Nice Indeed!

Antelopr hair also makes a great looking mouse.

Great popper! I ran into Alberto on the River over the weekend and got a chance to see this fine popper in person G

Alberto is a master at deer hair bugs and concoctions
