Another Way to Mix Dubbing

Easy method for fur, not synthetics. You need a small container with a cap, a tea strainer, some dish detergent, and a paper towel.

  1. Cut the fur dubbing into short pieces.
  2. Put the dubbing into the container, add a drop or two of detergent, fill 3/4 full with water.
  3. Shake vigorously
  4. Dump contents of container into tea strainer, and rinse until all traces of detergent are gone.
  5. Dry dubbing with paper towel, allow to air dry before using.

This is the easiest best way I have found for mixing any number of colors of fur dubbing. You can add spiky synthetics like antron for extra flash, but most synthetic dubbing won’t work with this method.

Dick Talleur used to use the felting method as described above by flyfisher7
But he also would use a coffee can with a straw poked through the plastic lid
