Another Pond

Rick learns a valuable lesson. The devil is in the details, or the fish stay in the water… Something like that.

Rick as always you write so as to make me feel that I am with you looking over your shoulder, almost as good as fishing itself.
Great lesson which is taught in practice every once in a while:oops:

Rick,

Yup, done that a couple o’three times myself. Every time I feel like a complete idiot and swear I’ll never do it again…til the next time. At least we get some casting practice.

REE

At least you made sure you had a fly. Fishing a #18 adams recently I pulled my line out of a bush behind me and cast foreward. I couldn’t see the fly come down but that happens to me often in those sizes so I fished out the cast by watching the end of the line. I cast several more times before realizing that I had no fly and probably hadn’t had one for a while. No wonder those fish just got so damn fussy.

I’ll stand with REE on this on. An hour wasted flipping a rubber spider under a tree. I can’t count the strikes I had without a hook-up only to discover when I went to put the spider in the hook-keeper that all I had was the shank and a rubber spider. Charlie Brown has his Kite-Eating tree and I have a Fly-Eating one at far end of my upper pond.
