Just wanted to introduce myself. I’ve been lurking here for awhile now and learning tons of stuff. Thanks to all of you I can now actually tie a couple of fly patterns without dropping the little bobbin thingy’s and breaking the thread (very much). Now if I can just get the casting figured out, but I’m sure I’ll get it with enough practice.
Most of my fishing is going to be done here in Missouri. I’ve been a spinfisherman most of my life and am ready for the change.I’ve never had any instructions on flyfishing other than what I’ve been reading on this site so I’m sure I’ll have a ton of dumb newbie questions. Anyway just wanted to say hello.
Welcome to the group. Let us hear from you on a regular basis and don’t be afraid to ask any questions that you might have. We’ve all been through the newby phase at one time or another. 8T
You had better learn to be a happy camper. You only get one try at this campground and it’s a real short camping season.
Always great seeing another Show Me on the board, although I’m now a Golden Gopher (or Viking, whichever you please). Just down that way for some fantastic pond fishing. Don’t forget to visit the warmwater site here. JGW
Welcome Mofish. I will be at the Detroit Tigers VS K.S. Royal’s game this coming Sunday, needless to say, I am root’n for the Tig’s. Nice to meet you, you will learn well hear if you ask. Jonezee
I learn more about the world while talking to myself when fishing alone
mofish;
Ask all the questions you want. Someone here will have an answer. Just remember to wipe your feet when entering the clubhouse and absolutly no cleats!! Pull up a chair and join us in the chat room some evening.
Don’t forget the Michigan Fish-In August 14th to the 20th. The Holy Water’s of the Au Sable await you!!
From one newbie to another…welcome. Great group of folks here. As you “expand your horizons” with fly fishing, there is an absolute wealth of information here. Aside from that, the commradre is outstanding. Only wished I lived closer to our “family”. Opportunities are only limited to our reaching out.
Cheers,
Mike K.
Live each day as if it were your last, some day you’ll be right!
Thanks for the warm welcome. I hope someday to meet some of you at one of the fish-ins. Until then then I will probably spend about every weekend honing my skills at one of the area lakes. I have fished Bennett Springs a couple of times recently and managed to get myself hooked (pardon the pun) on this sport. Never fished Taneycomo or the White river but I can see that coming in the near future. I also happened to blessed with a wife who enjoys fishing as much as I, so hopefully it’s just a matter of time before I get her to put down her Zebco. Thanks again everyone.
Rick Z-I live here in KC about a stones throw away from the Kauffman Stadium.
Jonezee- I don’t think it’s going to take a lot of rooting to get your Tiger’s to beat the Royal’s but you never know.
Hi Mofish from another Missouri ffisher and welcome to he board. Live in Springfield and the wife and I fish close to 100 days a year, mostly at Taneycomo but at Bennett on ocassion, also. We’d be happy to meet up with you and your Mrs. on one of your trips down if you’d like some company. We can show you some good areas at Taneycomo or meet at Bennett and say “hi”.
