Angel hair or fish hair

I know that this kind of hair, specifically angel hair, is synthetic but does anybody have a definition of what it is made of? Its not in the Fly Tying Terms as far as I know and a search turned up nothing. It should be listed in a synthetic materials reference. Thanks.

It’s very, very fine mylar tinsel as far as I can tell.

I believe it is some form of plastic by product? But am unsure? I use a lot of it but never though about what It may be made of. Ron

Reason I was asking is, I saw some little hand-held dusters that had some fine synthetic like hair and was wondering if it was the same thing. Might have to dig up Phil Camera’s “Fly Tying with Synthetics” book to see if its in there.

Robert,
I just picked up some Angel Hair from Denny Rickards at a show. I don’t think it’s the same as the dusters [at least the ones we have].
Angel Hair seems significantly finer and Richards said it is holographic…and it appears to be.
