It seems that all to often these days all we hear about and see is the closing of our favorite, old fly shops. Well folks, thanks to Ken and Cindi Beane, we no longer have to worry about E. Hille’s Anglers Supply House in South Williamsport, Pa. The former owner had to sell due to illness and some of us were afraid we were going to loose this wonderful, old fly shop.
My thanks to Ken and Cindi for saving this wonderful shop that has been a cornerstone of our sport in Pennsylvania for many decades. Their web site is under construction but definitely worth a look.
Best wishes and prayers to the former owners. Ken and Cindi, I’ll be there soon to visit. Those of you going to the Pa Fish-In via route U.S.15 will be going right by their front door. Stop in and visit if you can. You will like it, I promise.
Thats cool. I was looking for that shop last summer on our way back from Worlds End. I had never been there and wasnt 100% sure where it was, to top it off i was towing a 30’ travel trailer.
A friend and I went down there about 4 weeks ago on a Saturday. We met one of the new owners and had a little time to chat. Hopefully, the shop will continue to provide the quality and service it has been known for. By the same token, let’s hope that local and visiting fly fishers as well as catalog sales allow the new owners to meet, if not exceed, their financial expectations.
Thanks for that update Eric. Not to mention in late August, the Little League World Series is played about 200 yds from the shop! And as Eric said, you won’t be let down in that shop.
Eric, I didn’t think that I would be so impressed by their website. I didn’t really NEED to add another link in the Vendors sub-directory of my favorite links, but… (I hope that actually have that stuff in stock. I’ll probably find out in a few weeks.)
We drive by it right at the big left bend going south on 15 every time we drive to/from WNY. Of course I’ve stopped there about 10 times as often as I have at the McDonald’s next door…go figger.
We’ll do that for sure. Travel that route so often… On a side note, I apologize in getting our holiday card to you - I could just be lazy, but I’ll blame it on a crazy schedule. We hope you and Amy are well!
