An Introduction to Micro Fishing

Micro fishing in the US is about where tenkara was after it was introduced to the US but before the Field & Stream blog put it on everyone’s radar. Not many people have tried it. Those that have seem to like it. Those that haven’t make fun of it.

Field & Stream even blogged about it, http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/lateral-line/2014/05/micro-fishing-art-catching-smallest-fish-you-can but unfortunately, their take on micro fishing was not nearly as positive as their take on tenkara. It was a lot closer to making fun of it. To each his own.

I recently had the opportunity to introduce a newcomer to the ranks of micro fishermen. I don’t think it will be the last time he tries it.

Lately I’ve tried a little microfishing in a local lake just to see what was there beside the usual bass, crappies, bluegills, perch, catfish and trout. What I discovered so far was a green sunfish fishery and I’m hoping to find more.

Had to give microfishing a try a while back and had fun doing it. I enjoyed catching different species other than the usual suspects. #22 hook and a piece of worm and you can have some fun all day long.
