I really like your tie. Ann Schweigert told me to use muskrat dubbing for the body and a cree for the hackle so that’s what I do. When Ann talked, people listened because Jack usually monopolized the conversation. Ah the days.

I use muskrat dubbing for the body but wow if that’s how the original looked those wings are WAY in front of the hackle. I use muskrat dubbing for mine. Mcsteff I’ve tried the cree hackle in place of the brown and grizzly and while a nice looking fly I stick with the brown and grizzly.

Goes to show that just because a fly isn’t exactly “to the recipe” doesn’t mean it isn’t a particular fly. :slight_smile: How many people would cry “that’s not an adams! its a variation!” without the back story? :wink:

here is my camera setup

1 light above and below

pentax optio w30 set up on a tripod. sometimes i use the macro setting, other times i use the manual focus setting.

green background is a tiemco hook file box sitting on some cabelas gift card tins and a plastic bead storage box

renzetti vise fly holder

the cascade plastic bin is my waste management system

above photo taken with a nikon d40 dslr with the 18-55mm lens

i use free photo editing software called “photofiltre”. i cant afford photoshop. if its free, its for me! :smiley:

Norm…Great tie! Well done for sure. Always neat to see examples of how much particular patterns have changed over time.

Your setup for picks is very similar to mine except I only have a desktip tripod. Funny part is I also have a Nikon D40 camera and love it, but don’t have a macro for it yet. Have you experimented with yours on macro shots at all?

I always tied with brown/grizzly, until a got my hands on an excellent Cree neck. I will continue to use it instead as long as I have a good supply. Much preferred.

Very nice…
I have a Canon PowerShot A710IS, it takes great general shots, but the ‘macro’ mode is a little difficult to use in this case! I will work with the 2 light setup and my tripod ( which I never used).

theres all kinds of setups for fly photography, mine is really amateurish but it gets the job done.
