Amy's first attempt at stream side photography...

…Sorry but no fish porn. Recent rains have muddied the stream and this section gets fished out by the bait chuckers. It is an easy stream to access but a moderate challenge to photograph. I am very proud of her and her first real attempts at this type of photography!

A sample of her work:

Hope you enjoyed viewing as much as we did taking them. She is learning fast and both of us are having a blast. This was an unplanned trip out to the park where our canoe is moored. Unfortunatly someone, I won’t mention any names, forgot to put the paddles and life vests in his car so there was no paddling today. What a dork.

Thanks for sharing the nice photos. I have to comment on looking down your nose at the “bait chuckers”. Many of us started fishing with live bait in our lives. This year’s bait chucker might be next year’s fly fisherman. Instead of the “us vs them” mentality remember that we are all fisherman and any fisherman is closer to our lifestyle than any of the animal rights people that don’t want us to fish at all. It’s better, in my humble opinion, to educate other fisherman in the ways of catch and release by example and gentle suggestion than to bash other sportman. Your mileage may vary. If you don’t agree with me, that’s cool, it’s America and we don’t all have to think alike, I just thought that I might offer an alternative look at the “bait chucker’s” of this world.

By the way, I fish exclusivley with a fly rod these days.

Rick

Rick,
When I am out to fill the table I still use a slip bobber and live bait to get the job done. Nothing better for taking crappies, gills, perch and walleye. That having been said about 98% of the time I am using the fly rod.

I do not look down my nose at anyone. I wouldn’t say anything about bait fishermen unless I am one and a I am one. Read my signature and you will find out that I know a thing or two about America, our rights and what it’s like to loose buddies defending said rights.

On second thought about all of this would someone in the administration please delete this entire post? I do not want this being anything other than what it is, a post about Amy’s first attempt at photography. If I post any more I am going to really blow my stack!

Hey Eric, no need to delete the post, the photos are great and I do not think anyone could take offence at any of the comments.
What sort of camera is Amy using?
All the best.
Mike.

Eric,

Great photos!! Amy has done a great job. How far from your home is that water? I’d have to drive at least 2-3 hrs to find water like that. Sometimes I envy you guys that live close to water like that. Again, great pics!!!

Ppppbbbbssstttt!!! on the other post!! Keep the pictures! We like 'em!!!

Looks like another shared interest in the making!

You said someone forgot to put the paddles and vests in “HIS” car … no names, but if it was just you and AMY … hmmm.:p:rolleyes:

I read this post as nothing more than Amy’s first attempt at streamside photography and what a first attempt it is. I like it! Leave the post.

I liked this one so much, it’s now my computer wallpaper at work!!! Hope she won’t mind.

Eric I love the photos, leave it up, some people try to read derision into everything. Referring to a bait chucker is no worse than referring to worm drowner’s or fly flingers.

eric,

the photos are fabulous! i also want to thank you for your service to our country. i am in awe of people such as yourself. thank you thank you.

Man! Amy has left me wondering where that stream is and how I can get there. Her deftness with the Camera and her eye for beauty leave me in total admiration. But I am wondering how on earth anyone so talented would take along someone so inept that they left the paddles and life jackets at home. Not naming any names. You know who you are.

Imagine the beautiful shots she could have made from water level if this person had only done his/her job, the mind boggles.

PS is it just me or did anyone else notice that there seems to be several spots in that stream that beg for a fly.

I am a bait chucker, a fly flinger, and it is not unknown for me to drag a bit of flashy tin behind my boat either, I look upon it all as a natural evolution in the sport of fishing.

I have the same desktop, Thanks Eric, I mean Amy:D

Folks,
Right now Amy is grinning from ear to ear! She is happy that you all enjoyed her photos and wants you all to feel free to use them anyway you want to.

I got told about how good the picture of the painted turtles lined up on a log floating in the lake would have turned out if “Someone” would have remembered the paddles so we could use the canoe to get real close.
I got the feeling that at that moment there may have been the desire to paddle something other than the canoe.:lol:

Amy’s camera is a Cannon Power Shot A530. She has actually had the camera for a few years now but her brush with cancer last fall changed her outlook on life. That camera has special meaning to me. Harrold Hattaway helped me pick out that camera for her. For those that never got to meet Harrold he was the most wonderful man here on our web site. Cancer took Harrold from our physical world but now power of any kind could ever remove Harrold from our hearts.

I am so proud of Amy! I know Harrold and her mom are smiling down on her right now. Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement.

Oh, by the way, we live 15 miles from that stream and lake in Little Buffalo State Park. Here is a link to the park:

http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/littlebuffalo.aspx

Great thing about the park is that admission, except to the pool, is free. Also we have a wonderful pool and that protects the lake from damage caused by beach sand and swimming activities. The lake is electric motors only and it’s base is limestone shale. Very soft water, creek and spring fed, moderate temperatures through the summer and gets gin clear after a while. A great warm water and cold water species fishery!

Nighthawk, I din’t mean to offend you on this post. I guess, I had just read too many post by some fly fisherman that were against other fisherman. I see that you don’t fall into that category. Sorry if I was a little sensitive to that situation.

My wife does photography on an amateur level. She has even taken pictures for a couple of weddings in the past. We bought both of our son’s the A530 and it recieved some very good reviews on consumer reports. I hope your daughter continues to like hers as much as my son’s like theirs.

Rick

FANTASTIC PHOTOS keep up with the natural ability just great work and potential

Rick,
No hard feelings, buddy. I guess at times I am a bit oversensitive to such things. I am a very devoted American and a big hearted guy.

I don’t know if you folks can tell from the photo of that flower, but I seen some yellow ones like it, and if you look reel close, (its alot easier to see in reel life) the center of it looks just like some kind of beetle bug, I don’t know if this is natures way of atrracting birds for some sort of reason or not. I would not have caught it if I hadn’t seen them up close in reel life… Cool pic, I put it on my desk top for right now…

Tim pointed that out to me by Mossy Creek…it WAS really interesting & just goes to show how much attention he pays to all things outdoors.
