American Angler bamboo article

Anyone out there with a bamboo dreams might like to check out the Nov.-Dec. issue of American Angler which just hit the stands. It’s the first time cane rods have received such prominent coverage in a major mag. like this in a long long time. It’s sort of an overview / primer for the world of bamboo and is the feature article for this issue. I for one am glad to see it.

Thanks for the tip-off Bill.

My copy was there when I dragged in last night and I read the whole article, fighting sleep, before I gave in.

That’s going to do the intended; generate some sales.

Jim

It was the first article I read when my mag arrived. Zach Matthews did a nice job. It was nice that he menitoned and featured some familiar builders.

Sweet! Thanks Bill, I’ll pick up a copy tomorrow!

Joe Martin

Great to see some good space devoted to cane, and the first feature article, too! Congratulations and thanks to Zach!

Bill I get the feeling that no one know who you are (page 47)
Brother, I tell you what, I get lucky in Vegas over Thanksgiving or a bunch of guide trips and you will be getting a call from me.
You have some beautiful works of art in every sense of the word.

Right ON!
FG

Thanks FG. I hope I DO get a call from you one day, ask for the “guide discount”. I love it when people buy my rods and then FISH them!

I’d like to have Zach do a follow up to his excellent piece. I would be interested in seeing a Part 2 discuss the various tapers - and what they mean to a prospective flyfishing 'boo buyer.

Ok,… a Payne xyz taper. What exactly is that?, or a Granger abc taper. I’m sure that I’m not alone in my bewilderment on this point.

I have looked around a little, but have not found the answers yet.
