How can they sell a $250.00 reel for $49.00? I’m not doubting the price. I’m wondering how they can stay in business.
I don’t know for sure but it could be the remaining inventory of 2009 that is going to be replaced with the 2010 inventory. A lot of stores do that with their overstocked items rather than carry it into the new year.
That would be my guess.

There is a thread on this already. Not trying to be the ‘Search Police’ but there were good comments in the other thread.
I ordered an A5 and some line and got a reel for free. Should be here tomorrow or the next day.
I think Albright does this every year.
You’re right, Big Bad Wulf. I did read the previous threads, but I just don’t understand how they can give stuff away and stay in business. I may have to buy a reel to see if they are junk or quality. I’m not suggesting they are junk because I’ve never held one in my hand.

This reminds me of a bunch of years ago when I had my saddle shop. I found some beautiful bridles with some nice silver work dirt cheap from India. I mean DIRT cheap. These were an incredible value. High quality stuff. I brought some in and marked them at a fair price. I was making good money on them but they were still way below the market. The darn things wouldn’t sell. They just sat there. I finally started asking customers why they didn’t like them. They came back with the feeling that if they were priced so low, they had to be junk.
I tripled the price and they sold like hotcakes.
I am quite sure Albright is making money. If those rods and reels are made in China, and I would suspect they are, they are priced fairly for Chinese imports. There are some great values coming out of China with some quality stuff being manufactured there.
Also notice that the MSRP can be set any darn place you want to set it. It is extremely rare to see anything sold at MSRP besides video game consoles or Macs these days.
Ooh man, this is tempting to buy just for the sake of saving money.
