Albright fly reels

Anyone out there have any experience with the Albright fly reels? Seems to be a sturdy looking product. Your opinions would be great.

I have the GP and the Bugatti. I like them both and have zero complaints about either. I don’t fish salt or giant fish though, but have used the drag on both.

That Bugatti is sweet! I was going to buy a red.fly2 then found out that the spools are graphite. texfly, I am glad you posted this. Got to admit that the GP with black frame and silver spool is neat too.

Got a GP, seems solid and has taken some bigger fish for sure. Drag is pretty smooth.

I bought a bugati 3/4 with an extra spool during their year-end clearance sale. I have no complaints. I also bought the topwater outfit in a 4 wt for my grandson. It seems to be a good little starter outfit. Their GPX is supposed to be the best. It’s only 100 bucks. They say it’s made to sell for 250 so I guess that’s a good deal. Jim

I have the bugatti reel in 5/6 and 7/8 and I can tell you that they are steelhead tested. I plain out right love the drag on it. Very smooth and no jerks whatsoever.

I couldn’t pass up the year-end sale they had recently either and bought a Bugati 7/8 for a TFO TiCrX 8wt rod I had. I’ve used the reel a few times and have no complaints either. Drag is smooth enough, not as silky-smooth as my Lamson’s, but plenty good enough, especially considering what I paid for it compared to the Lamson’s!
I would buy another.

Bughatti here, also (3/4). Had to do a little minor adjustment to the drag, but after that, no complaints at all. Great value for the price.

Thanks for all the feed back guys. Makes me feel much better about buying a reel I know little about.

I have the Topwater for my 5/6 travel rod, and honestly if I had to replace it in the same price range, I’d get the Okuma Sierra instead. The Topwater just feels a little sloppy now, and it didn’t when I bought it. That said, it’s not like it detracts from my fishing pleasure. It is a budget minded reel and certainly not overpriced. I can’t speak for their higher end products as I’ve not used them.
