We head out in the morning from western Washington, through the Idaho panhandle, into Montana and then south back into Idaho for the Idaho Falls Fly Fishing and Tying Expo. We plan on two days to get to Idaho Falls. A couple days at the show, a day fishing with John Scott, then head home. We will have licenses for all states we pass through, so there may be some extra fishing done.
REE & VEE,
We once took a similar trip from Seattle to Denver via pretty much the same route you are taking. I caught myself overusing the words “WOW” and “HOLY COW” and I wasn’t even fishin. A normal two day trek took us eight days. The scenery is awesome.
Like some have already mentioned, I too am jealous.
Have a safe trip and “keep the greasy side down”.
Hey REE, Hope you and VEE have a great time and the weather plays ball!
I am of course not the least bit jealous but I may have to log off to go and have a sulk!
Please post some pics when you get back, I can hardly wait to see them.
Are you going to be fishing the wee wet on John Scott’s water? It looks soooo fishy with all those lovely riffles. :tieone:
All the best.
Mike.
Rest easy. REE and VEE may have had a bit of snow yesterday and possibly this morning.
BUT the forecast starting tomorrow is clear and dry with a nice warming trend. We should be close to 70 here in the Idaho Falls area on Saturday, and Sunday, in the mountains it is going to be gorgeous !!
I am sitting in the computer room of the Shilo Inn in Idaho Falls as I type this. Already checked in, been to Jimmy’s in town, got an espresso, yakked with Poppy from the Red Shed Fly Shop, and Norm of Nor-Vise fame.
Looking forward to hitting Birch Creek on Sunday, may check on the St Joe on the way home.
Ron,
I don’t know if you’re interested in this sort of thing, but just down the street and around the corner a few blocks, is the Museum of Idaho, which has a Titanic display featured. Artifacts etc. If you find yourself with spare time on your hands, or just want something different. See you in a few hours.
