about crystal flash

Before i went out fishing today i needed to tie up some wullfs, but i didnt have any calf tail left, and didnt have and white deer tail either. so i was experimenting, and used crystail flash. It turned out pretty nice, and i was wondering if any one else has tried it, and if it worked good or not.

P.S. I used it, and had small fish hit it.

Glad you at least had a ‘customer’ for your fly. One of the things to keep in mind when you substitute is what the original purpose of the material was for. In this case, the
calf or deer is for floating the dry fly.
While the crystal flash probably looked good, it does zip to help keep the fly afloat.

Stick with it, you’re doing fine.

I use krystal flash all the time for parachute posts and wings. It works very well and I found it dosn’t tend to sink the fly.

Thanks for your replys, ill keep them in mind

sculpin, no problem with that, but the wullfs use the hair for the tail…

I use it alot for small spinner wings mostly Tricos and it does not make the fly sink and is a little ezer to see.

Sorry LadyFisher, I thought he was talking only about the wings. Wasn’t trying to talk over you.
