USCG 1987-2008, served (somehow) in over 30 countries worldwide, as well as Maine, Alaska, Nevada, New Mexico, Virginia, Florida, etc. Chief Electronics Technician- was OIC of my last three units. In the CG, OIC isn’t like an NCOIC in the Army where whenever 3 Soldiers are standing around they need an “OIC”… in the sea services OIC is a designated Command. Just had to dig a little because I work with a bunch of former Soldiers now.

Jan 85 to Dec 88.
1st Battalion The Royal Hampshire Regiment.
Served in Berlin, Denmark, Kenya, Northern Ireland, West Germany and U.K.
Started as a rifleman, then a short stint as 88mm anti-tanks, then Sustained Fire Machine Gun detachment (3 gun teams) Commander.
All the best.

We used to joke the difference in the National Guard and the Boy Scouts was the Boy Scouts had adult leaders. But the 185th did themself and the state of MS proud in Iraq. Co C had some pilot involved in taking out Saddam’s two sons. They have a company size element in Iraq now.
