A Little Limestoned

Had to pick up my son at school (go Dukes) and left early enough to get about 2 hrs to fish a local spring creek. Water was a bit cloudy, word I got from 2 other fishermen was cattle crossing upstream; guess the electric fences were down. Ended up with 2 dinks, a few refusals and a decent pull.

spooked a nice one here

Packed it up, picked up the boy and homeward bound. He actually stayed awake the whole way back; we had a lot to catch up on.

Neat pix, Scott. Looks kind of like the Sweet Grass Hills region.

John

ScottP,

Looked at the first photo below the barns and told my wife it has to be M***Y Creek. Sure enough, as I recognized the rest of the area. Haven’t fished it in a few years now though. Have a photo of my old fishing buddy I took while standing in the parking lot across the bridge and he was fishing the little run just downstream from the bridge. Quite a challenging place to wet a fly without collecting some of the streams namesake!

Good call GMM and yes, it is a challenging stream; hooked my biggest brown trout ever there a few years back on a deer-hair beetle (although I lost it under a cut-bank). John, when we were up in the Sweetgrass this past summer, I was amazed by all the spring creeks that flowed through my father-in-law’s old homestead; none this big and I didn’t see any fish but they were beautiful nonetheless.

Regards,
Scott

What could be better, you got to fish and spend time with the son. The scenery is beautiful.
Thanks
