More hoppers - Sweet! Keep them coming, I need these patterns to know what to tie for my vacation at the end of the month. I’m not that familiar with warmwater/ panfish & smallmouth bass flies, but these look like they would fit the bill. Great tying!

I have a good friend who loves fishing for bream with live crickets, which he buys. Being a ole country boy who is somewhat crafty several years ago, he caught a bunch of wild crickets around his property. Before going fishing he bought some crickets (which are grayish brown) and took the black crickets with him. He ran out of bought crickets and turned to the wild ones. The fish wouldn’t touch them.
I’m confused (dumber than a rock ??) why the fish would not hit the wild ones ??
I don’t have a clue. Maybe they taste gamey. I was hoping someone could give me a reason.
I’ve always been amazed with the success that folks have had in the northeast with the Letort Cricket pattern, as it is black cricket, and every southern boy learns at a very yearly age that black crickets don’t work as bait down here.
