A few more featherwings: Black Ghost, Garrison, Bean Special, and the Gees-Beau

All the snow we have gotten in New England has given me a chance to sit at my desk, here are a few of the ties:

Black Ghost Herb Welch pattern
Hook: Fulling Mill 3220, sz 4
Tail: yellow hackle fibers
Body: black floss ribbed with flat silver tinsel
Throat: yellow hackle fibers
Wing: two pairs white hackle feathers
Eyes: jungle fowl
Head: black thread

Hummer Carrie Stevens pattern
Hook: Mustad 3665A, sz 2
Tag: flat silver tinsel
Body: orange floss ribbed with flat silver tinsel
Throat: white bucktail
Underwing: 4-6 peacock herls
Wing: two pairs grizzly hackle feathers
Shoulder: barred woodduck feather
Eyes: jungle fowl
Head: black thread

Bean Special
Hook: TMC300, sz 2
Tail: barred wooduck slips
Body: white floss ribbed with flat silver tinsel
Throat: yellow hackle fibers followed by red hackle fibers
Wing: two pairs of white hackle feathers
Head: black thread

Gees-Beau
Hook: Partridge CS17, Ken Baker streamer hook, sz 2
Tail: orange goose shoulder slips
Body: back half flat silver tinsel, front half yellow yarn, ribbed with oval silver tinsel
Throat: yellow hackle fibers
Wing: two pairs of white hackle feathers with orange goose slips veiling them
Eyes: jungle fowl
Head: black thread

The Fulling Mill hooks are a 4X long streamer hook. The Ken Baker is a salmon streamer hook with a return eye which gives a wider surface to tie in wings for Herb Welck type streamers. I will be using these for a few more Herb Welch patterns I"m working on.

I hope you enjoy these,

Alberto

Wow! Really enjoyed those! Nice work!

Thanks!

I have tried the different [IMG] codes specified in the FAQ for the BB and still can’t get the images to show up over the links.

I also searched in the archives with little luck, all the variations I tried did not work.

Can anyone point out the correct procedure to me?

Regards,

Alberto

Alberto,

First thing I do when posting pics in a thread is to click on the A/A button (left side of the top bar) and switch editor to Source mode so none of the weird stuff gets added to a text string. If you edit your original post, you’ll see that your pics are showing as hyperlinks. You just need to re-copy/re-paste them as they came from Photobucket, and things should be cool. Great flies, by the way.

Regards,
Scott

Success! Thanks Scott!

Best tying I’ve seen in quite a while.
Thanks!

I’m with you Alberto, I did a lot of organizing in the last storm, this time I’ll do some tying.
Great flies!
Mike
