The Stream Doctor

Q.
From VinylT: In a C&R stream where trout are
pickier about the flies that they will hit, do
the trout still eat healthfully or are they too
paranoid? It just seems to me that they don’t
eat as much of anything if they are fished hard.

A.
The obvious answer to me would be that if the
fish are there and they are healthy, obviously
they are getting enough to eat. After all, in
most cases there is a more than adequate natural
food supply, so they have the option to ignore
your offerings in favor of easier to obtain food.
