43 Hours to Mi-Fish-In Start

:DOnly 43 hours till the 29th.
We leave for it in approx 27 hours.
See Ya There!

Tonight I make the dough for the (5) loaves of bread to be baked on Saturday. I’m actually making a loaf just for the camp. Went grocery shopping last night for camping and dropped $103. Not bad for two guys for the week. We’ll be having things like steamed brats with onions & peppers, spaghetti with Italian sausage, grilled chicken thighs marinated in Italian salad dressing and marinated pork tenderloin with redskins & baby carrots. How about “scratch” pancakes for breakfast, or sausage & egg bake with potatoes, mushrooms, onions and cheddar cheese? Friday morning will be biscuits with sausage gravy. Eating poorly while camping is a personal choice. Bring out the fat pants!

Trying to finish the “Honey-do” list as well. Put in a new vanity top and faucet in the 1/2 bath yesterday, cleaned out the pond in the garden and still need to put up a new drapery rod today.

bdesavage Now its only 42 hours for the start or in other words 25 hours till you leave.

Finshing up my duties for the Mr. Strickland today, will be packing tonight. Mikeee is picking me up at 9:00am Saturday. After a stop at Cabelas and a cheese stop for JC, we will be headed towards Grayling. Should be there between 4-5pm.

Joe, will be making the cheese dip and shrimp butter tonight. I didn’t forget you.

See you all Saturday,

Brad

I will be hitting the road in about 23.5 hours and should be pulling into the Lodge at about 1130hrs Saturday.

Looking forward to seeing all of you.

Hey Jean,
I only wish it were 43 hours for me. I will probably be arriving late Monday or Tuesday. Kindly keep the major festivities on ice till I arrive :). My greatest concern is that His Grand Poobahshness will deplete the perch dinner supply at Gates before I get there. In any case, I’m looking forward to seeing y’all again and taking advantage of the ( first time for me) Hex hatch.

Mark

Marco -

With that said, and considering the river conditions in most of Wyoming right now, I think you would rather be on the AuSable.

John

I just started packing and making a check list…this despite the fact that I’m leaving in the morning for my brothers place near Evart and going on to the fish-in from there Monday or Tuesday. I was amazed to find that a minimalist fly tying kit fills up a tote about ten times as big as the box my starter kit came in:rolleyes:. I still have to get groceries and finish the laundry after work and then pack my stuff and fill the car. Just getting in training for being out to all hours for the Hex hatch:D.

Jim the procrastinator

Ready - have piles on top of piles. We leave here at 4:30 am tomorrow, hit Traverse City about 5 PM. By God, we’re going to make it!

And I am looking forward to meeting you both.

Just a quick note to all attending the MIFI-2008.

May your lines be as tight as Joe’s belt will be on the drive home. I hope you all have a fantastic time and the fish cooperate. I hope to join you at one of these FI sooner or later. Can’t wait to read all the stories and see all the pictures.

Joe, I gotta go camping with you one of these days.

Take care,

Mike

Mike I am bringing the lap top and digital camera. If I can pull myself away from all the fun I will try and keep you updated to the goings on.

Ok, the dough for the Meet & Greet bread is now mixed, and will be baked in the morning. It was getting confusing, so I setup an assembly line to make sure I got all the ingredients into each batch. From left to right, I’ve got plain bread, trail mix bread (minus the M&M’s), roasted garlic with caramelized Vadalia onions, Italian herb and Craisin-Raisin-Sunflower seed bread.

Here are the 5 varieties in their respective proofing vessels. See you in the morning,

Note the Cup in the first picture. Maybe the “OvenGod” cheets every now and then. So many Loaves to make, so little time. So he calls on “Sir Pannera” in a pinch?:p:lol::lol:

I’ve got to finish making 3 pans of peanut butter fudge, finish packing & leave here at 6am to get Brad Boy! We’ll SEE about the 4-5 pm arrival…I’ve BEEn to Cabelas with Brad before!
Mikey

LOL. Friday night has been date night for more than 20 years, so tonight we went shopping and then stopped at Panera for 1/2 sandwich and a bowl of French Onion soup. Sure hit the spot and it doesn’t break the bank. I wouldn’t take the chance of cheating when I promise to deliver bread. It all comes from the dough god’s kitchen.

It’s only 10 p.m. and I’m beat. Time for a shower and hit the hay early. I’ll start baking around 0530 and hopefully be done by noon. I have two more different loaves to make tomorrow, a loaf of white bread for camp and a loaf of Italian for someone very special.
