Was surfing the web and came across this suggestion for a cheap fly box.
Go to your local store and purchase a plastic soap box.Ya know the kind you would take camping or to a hotel.Also purchase some 3/8 weather stripping with adhesive backing.Measure it.Cut it,and stick the strips inside the box.Then just add flies.I’m sure there are other plastic containers that would work as well.I think I’ll raid my wifes tupper ware supply

Sir Jim Hatch, of redear fame, has told us all, in times past, to go to the travel section at Walmart and get the little compartmented boxes, like they sell for $9.95 at fly shops, for $.97. They really work great and are just the right size.

If you have one nearby, check the Containter Store. They’ve got all configurations of little divided clear plastic boxes.
Check out the Dollar stores . I bought some pill boxes and got 7 for $1 ( one for each day of the week ).They each have 4 compartments.

check out the plastic boxes at home depot. i think they are for storing screws and other hardware, but the are multi compartment, made of hard plastic, have good hinges, and cost less than $2

I use those too but am a little concerned that the lids are not very secure. What do you think?
One way I’ve used them is to drill a hole in the bottom of each compartment and use as a dubbing dispenser. Small but a little dubbing goes a long way and the price is right for so many compartments.
Duck … I’ve had that happen a few times as well . I’m a bit more careful now . Maybe I’ll try some superglue on the center rail.

Thanks for the weather stripping tip.
Just added some to a cigar box I had for storing “sample flies” at my tying bench.
…had some on hand so basically done at no cost … it was quick and works great.
ps…headed for Wal-Mart today and may end up with some of Jim’s box suggestions.
