Including me, we have four tyers. Although the signup deadline was yesterday, I’d love to fill the remaining spaces. Here’s the who’s who so far:

Okay, folks: what was the first fly you put on your leader at the start of this year’s trout season? It doesn’t matter whether you caught fish with it; you were confident enough to make it your first choice! :smiley: Share with your online friends!

Here’s what I’m hoping for:

  • Ten tiers, including me (ten flies, please!)

  • Sign up by Sunday, April 24 SIGN UP DATE CHANGED TO APRIL 30

  • Mail your flies by Saturday, May 14 MAIL IN DATE CHANGED TO MAY 14.

  • I’ll be tying picket pins

  • Check the sticky for details if, like me, this is your first swap

  • Stay in touch and have fun!

Neat idea for a swap theme. If I had more time, I’d join in, but it is a busy time of the year for me right now.

Teach, I will play. But you may want to extend out your due date of May 7th to allow more tiers to join in and get their flies to you. Just a suggestion.

First fly for me was an olive wooly, so that is what I will tie.

Welcome aboard! The May 7 deadline was just a date that I thought seemed do-able. I will be happy to change the due dates if it turns out that’s better for folks. I would rather have ten tiers play and get the flies later than have fewer tiers because of a date. After all, the main point of this is to have fun. I’ll be back in touch soon.

Check out some of the other swaps they usually run about 30 to 45 days. Gives time to fill your swap and time for everyone to tie them up.

i’ll play if you extend the due date. I’m a Dutchman and need a window off ten day to send flies out from Europe to the US.

I can’t commit to this window, it’s not doable for me. I have some more swaps to ty and can’t promise to send out May 4th! Sorry but I must pass, it would not be fair to the swapmeister and to the other swappers to make a promise I can’t keep.

Hi Sjo,

The new date to send out was May 14, not May 4. If that helps you (or if a different date helps you), I’d love to have you aboard. If it is still not doable, then I understand, and I hope to “see” you in some other swap.

In order to be in time for the due date May 14th, I must send them out ten days prior to the 14th and that’s May 4th. I understand now that you give May 14th as a shipping date, that I can do. So count me in!

Checked my swap log again and I sent mine on the 11th. I can retie and mail out Monday. I have to leave for business trip the next two days. Gods I hate our snail mail system!!

This isn’t supposed to be stressful. Get to it when you can. When it comes to fly tying, I go with the Ben and Jerry’s theme: If it isn’t fun, why do it?
