2009 Michigan Fish-IN

I just got off the phone with Rusty and next year’s Michigan Fish-In will run from Wednesday, July 1, to Wednesday, July 8. So start making your reservations early!

We felt that since July 4th falls on a Saturday in 2009, by starting the Fish-In mid-week, more folks might be able to attend, for a longer period, and be able to attend the July 4th Dinner.

We’ll be having a meeting of the Fish-In committee at the Mason Flytying Seminar, so please feel free to stop by and give us your ideas for next year, I’ll be the one sitting and doing quilting.

Do you have any particular request of the Boys for the dinner? Do you want any changes in the casting contests? Enquiring minds want to know and we’ll have our ears on. Looking forward to seeing everyone in December!

Jack and I already have our reservations.

(And this time we don’t tell Betty where we’re hiding the White Cheddar Cheez-Its…)

…and where is the Doughgod/Chef sleeping? Let the bidding begin for my services.

I’ll be there!!

As far as I know…I’ll be at the Fish In, camping out… probably at Keystone this time. Canoe Harbor is being logged in a couple of weeks. BOOOOOOO:mad::cry::cry::cry: Unless the Canadian dollar goes below 50 cents…then I really have think about it. Tough times are a comin’!

See you at the Mason Show unless a snow storm stops me.

Joe…if you want to camp…name your poison! I’ll make sure I have a good stock.

By the way…I stayed at the Days Inn for a night, to get out of what was left of Hurricane Ike, in September… and it was very nice. They gave us four wet people a discount rates, too. It was $54 a night pr room. I don’t know if you can work something out with them, or not…I’m just saying it was very nice, very clean and convenient.

Deb,

I really don’t want to camp again. For a night or two it’s fine, but for a week it gets old in a hurry. My back is just now getting back to normal (problems with it for 20+years). If I don’t get a sponsor (hint, hint, Jack), I’ll probably look for a sleep cheap that will let me cook on the camp stove.

Joe

Joe I got bad news for ya Jack and I are rooming again in 09

I know…our love was just a “flash in the pan.”

There’s always Jellystone’s cabins. There’s one just south of Grayling on 4 Mile Rd.
The more expensive ones come with fridges, TVs and DVD players! …and you cook on your own stove outside!!! If you can get a couple others in on it…it’s pretty cheap.

I’d be willing to split the cost, the bigger cabin sleeps 6. Maybe the Island Nation could do one?

It’s gone to pot, but it was never more than a half-baked idea, anyway.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Will Doughy-Joey ever serve his Mates again “Aye” or will he be banished to a tent alone?

Is it July Yet?

With six inches of snow on the ground today…it sure makes me wish that it was July. :expressionless:

Dave,

I’m in for a week. Let me know who else you can get. i think I can get one additional guy from Mentor who wanted to go. I’ll check with him. He’s Sec. of NCFF. I’m willing to do some of the cooking in exchange for strong drink.

Joe

Joe,
Count me in, I’ll share the cooking and DRINK! Preliminary findings look like 6 people = 100/130 ea. depends on the deal. I will be makeing some calls next week.
Dave

A note of caution about 4 mile rd. and Stephans Bridge rd. They ate my muffler in 2006!! So rough you’ll lose your fillings!! At a maximum speed of 5 mph it would take over an hour to get to Gate’s Lodge!! At 20 mph you better have a trailer to load the ejected car parts in!! :frowning:

It wasn’t bad in 2007 or 2008. I was doing 45 to 50 mph on them. Don’t ask about the Mason Tract road though.

By the way… I was showing my other half how to drive on those washboard roads. The trick is not to drive slow.

Remember, there is always the Woodland Motel, in Grayling! They are very reasonable, there’s air conditioning, a fridge, coffee maker, and toaster (if you want it), and phone in each room, and an inside bathroom.

We have stayed there since 2006 and we payed only $270 for 8 days stay. The people who own the motel are very accomodating. They even moved a recliner into our room for me to sleep in, since laying flat doesnt’ work for me.

It’s just a quick drive from the motel to Gates, less than 15 minutes. We always stay in the back building, amongst the pine trees, very quiet.

Remember also, that the Fish-In committee will be holding their first meeting at the Mason Fly-tying Expo the first weekend of December.
