1st fish on my Sage VT2=my 1st steelhead!

Doggone that Jack Hise…he just loves to beat me to a post!!

Mike Murgida & I decided to check out a flyshop in Sheffield Lake that Mike hadn’t been to yet. Then decided to go to one f our favorites, Chagrin River Gillies…after shopping & visiting, we had about 1/2 hour to bank fish (no time to don waders)…3rd rollcast with my new Sage VT2 6wt (won here) & a bunny strip streamer resulted in a solid 6-7 lb steelie…beautiful fish, great fun & what a way to break in the Sage. This is my 1st year steelie fishing & my goal was to get one, but WOW!!! I am surprised & pleased beyond belief!..only 1 negative…I FORGOT the camera, but I DO have an indelible picture imbedded in my mind!

Mike…without my expert knowledge in steelheading you would have never got caught that fish let alone got to the river! I was the one who knew how to get the the shop, I knew what flies to use, AND I put you on some nice water LOL… …but you can’t forget when I caught that small jack on that giant fly and I yelled over to you and while trying to release it I almost fell off the steep bank !

“I’ve often wondered why it is that so many anglers spend so much money on,and pay so much attention to.the details on the wrong end of the fly line.If they took as much care in selecting or tying their flies as they did in the selection of the reel and rod,They might be able to gain the real extra edge that makes it possible to fool a fish that has,in fact, seen it all before” A.K.Best

Everyone wants to excel in this sport but at the same time we let traditionalists place restrictions on our tactics, methods, and ideas. I always assumed that fly fishing was a sport that allowed imagination, creation, adaptation, investigation, dedication, education, revelation? : Fox Statler, On Spinners (Not the dainty Dry Fly kind) “Spinner’d Minner Fly”

Trouts don’t live in ugly places

Betty,

You think he forgot the camera? All he has to do is see both ends of the fish around the Cabela’s chest pack and he knows it’s a keeper!

Brad

I’m happy for you buddy! Now you and Mike M. both go get your Lake Erie permits. Hit the tributaries and have some fun.
