SEPTEMBER 1ST 1997, Fly Anglers OnLine started on the World Wide Web of the Internet…
Today is the 14th Anniversary of the start of the “Greatest Fly Fishing and Fly Tying Site” on the WWW….
No advertising, Sponsors only to pay the cost of running the operation.
Fly Anglers sharing their fly patterns, fly fishing stories, and fly fishing knowledge.
Annual Yearly Fish-In’s, and later Regional Fish-In’s where added.
Just going through all the different themes and areas on FAOL, this is the only site I know that covers just about everything that anyone would ever need to know that is related to fly fishing…
All of this became possible because of “One Person’s Dream”, and the Dream became FAOL, give a hand and a thank you to the creator of FAOL…DEANNA TRAVIS.
Without Deanna, we all would not be here on this site today…
Thanks Deanna for your vision and tenacity to start FAOL. It,s my favorite site and has raised my level of knowledge. Peace, tight lines, and have a smooth day! Michael J.
Thank you and congratulations!! I found FAOL when I was first getting into Fly Fishing and found the information to be very helpfull and I stuck around for the rest.
Yes I need to thank Deanna for this site. I came here in 1998 when I first started fly tying. I had been fly fishing since I was 12 and had tried as a kid to make some poppers but had no actual tying material’s, and did catch fish on them, but I learned a lot from this site. I don’t post a lot because I don’t really know how to express myself that well. FAOL has been my home page for several years and will continue to be in the future. So thank you Deanna and all the people who have contributed to this site for your help.
Congratulations to FAOL and thank you Deanna. I find that very often FAOL is my fly fishing fix for those times when I can’t get out on the water, especially in the dead of winter. What a great website with lots of great members.
Thank you, Deanna. I don’t know what I would do without FAOL to go to and just explore. I have been a member for quite some time, thanks to Mikey prodding me to join, and have gained a tremendous amount of info from the articles and from the many sharing members. I have made some good friends from FAOL and there are some that I consider friends and have never met them. Where I am with my fly fishing and fly tying, I owe to FAOL and the sharing members.
I start and end each day with FAOL and really do not know what I would do without it. Thanks so very much…
I am very happy Deanna had the idea for FAOL and the forewithal to make it happen. I just wish I had found it earlier. You have created a community of individuals with a love for flyfishing, tying and the outdoors who can disagree without being disagreeable. Their are several members, who I have not met in person I believe are my friends, which is a term I do not use loosely. The body of FAOL has helped me improve as a fisherman and fly tyer, although I still have a long way to go when compared to many of the expert who exhibit their work here.
Thanks especially to Deanna but to all who contribute here. You have contributed to make life more enjoyable to me. If you find yourself on the NE side of Atlanta and time and circumstance permit drop me a line and I should be good for a cup of coffee and if possible we can go float down the Hooch, if you promise not to laugh out loud about my casting.
I find it hard to beat Uncle Jesse’s comments, except for the last paragraph (since I don’t live in “North Metro Georgia”).
I find myself curious. How old is 14 in Internet years?
Love you all, without you and your contributions FAOL would not exist. For Ed, the average lifespan of a website is 3 months! That makes us almost as old as Methuselah S Thanks everyone!
Thank you Deaana. I have created many friendships via the website that I would not otherwise been able to have. I want to also thank the members of FAOL for sharing all the great tips, reports both fishing and personal, fly patterns, and just funny stories. Like all families sometimes they have little spats once in awhile, but I feel this is just one big family that has a great time together.
Thank you all!!!
Congratulations Deanna! I too enjoy this site and the help I’ve gotten over the years has been immense. There’s a great community of folks that make up this site and it’s all made possible by having this venue. Again, thank you. This site is by far my favorite flyfishing site on the Web.
