I’m sorry, I’ve “fallen down” on keeping up with promised reports on Robert, (Harley Bob’s son), but had health issues of my own lately.
Anyhooooooooo… Robert’s had some very serious ups and downs, since the surgery.
After his initial discharge, he was taken back for emergency surgery, for an infection on his left thigh. I won’t go into “details”, about that, because one… it’s obviously quite personal for Robert and two… it’s a bit uhhhh “gross” to really be describing here.
Bob commented “Talking about this infection and what, now, must be done for the next two weeks, to keep it from coming back, would be as gross as discussing Joe V.'s SPAM recipes, so don’t post the details on the BB, Paul, that wouldn’t be fair to everyone”.(end quote)
But, the infection was caught in time, thankfully.
This emergency surgery has added a lengthy recovering set back, to Robert’s overall recuperation period, but Bob said his “spirits are still high and he’s still fighting his way back, because of his desire and self commitment to loose the weight and lead a “normal life”, which he’s really never had”.(end quote).
I spoke to Bob, yesterday and as plans go, they are all headed home to Idaho, tomorrow the 27th.
Even when back home, Robert will still face a very long, uphill, battle to continue on the path he’s on. He will continue with closely supervised medical care, once home again, under the care of his own specialist at their local hospital as an out patient.
Bob, again, sent his heartfelt “thank yous” to all of his family, here, on the FAOL site, for the comments, prayers and well wishes everyone has posted on my report threads, as it’s been a big part as he says; “In keeping what LITTLE sanity, my wife and I, still have after all of this!”.
(not having a computer with him, of course, I’ve read Bob the posted comments on each of the reports, here, when we’ve talked)
He hopes when they return home, the night of the 27th, to post on here himself and give the latest report and run-down on Robert’s condition and their experiences of this whole ordeal.
