01092010, fishing was harsh..

Got out today on my favorite winter river, but she was well frozen over, lots of flood ice the stuff that will drop you 2ft to the hard ice under or in the water… looks like this

and this

at least last week we had this…

So I hiked 3hrs with the dogs looking for open water and found it on another river…

I was rewarded with this nice guy… about 20ins and never more the 4in from the surface of the water and back in with in 20seconds…

Even caught him on a fly that tied up last night…

YEP - I’d walk three miles or more right now to catch a nice bull trout like that !!

Bet Fischer was wagging his tail like mad when you pulled that fishy out of the creek.

John

P.S. What was the fly ?? Some kind of streamer I would guess.

Hi John…

Brown and purple woollyBugger type with a white tail, will post pic when I bring it in from the car, I hopefully am going out in the morning …

Fischer does not care when I catch fish,he is to busy bringing me kindling and fence posts, Not kidding !!! and he is busy watching my back for any clawed critters, many sighting of a juvenile female Cougar in the area…

Thor on the other hand, is a very different story, when I release a fish he will stare at the spot in the water for up to 10 mins waiting for who knows what, maybe the fish to come back, but at least now he does not try to take them from my fly any more… Golden Retrievers are much calmer when they hit the magic two years old…

He rarely stays in one spot to get his picture taken!!!

Nice reward for your efforts. Nice Bull and beautiful scenery!

Bet you and the dogs slept well that night!

aa

Dedication like that just has to pay off. Nicely done.

looks like a good day out.

I did the three mile hike thing today and didn’t get no stinking bull trout. Of course, there wasn’t any water where I was hiking so I got a real good excuse.

I did, however, get a pic of a pretty fresh cougar track, in case you want to show it to Fischer.
