"Who publishes the sheet-music of the winds or the music of water written in river-lines?"

I have seen several variations of this fly after sharing it with a few folks. It has caught several panfish for me this year.
I suppose that if God grants us to live long enough we all end up realizing that there are people that are no longer living.
I guess I should begin with an apology for the photograph I have chosen to begin the article with, it the Hi-Vis Royal Worm and yes it floats and I have caught trout on it. However on second thought I won't apologize as fly fishing is suppose to be fun and if you can't smile at this photo which would have shocked Mr. Halford then you need to get a sense of humor and quit taking fly fishing so seriously!
If one wants truly to rile the fly fishing community, OR….as a good friend of mine likes to say "kick that pig". Than all one really needs to do is step into a discussion online or in person, and declare "their" world defines our sport. Try it once and watch what happens. Folks will step back into corners, square off, claim ultimate knowledge or name drop until folks either accept their view ending the argument, or just walk away shaking their heads.
I have reviewed this book (Chronicle Books, ISBN: 0-87701-800-6) before (Review 3). This time I'd like to write a memoir regarding one of dressers in this book. Though I have never met him and will never will, I feel greatly obliged.
I got a phone call that I could go in and fish a pond. The only request was that I hike in and not drive. When I got to the field I could tell why. Most of the field is fairly hilly and everything was very dry. My guess was that any rain did not soak in so driving might have caused a grass fire. I knew that this pond is really open. The trees are at least 50 yards from the pond with very few bushes around. It's really hard to snag the big ones here. I took two 3 weights with me. I put on a black fur tailed leech and a yellow boa yarn fly.
