THE UGLY DAMSEL
This was a long time ago, when I’d only been fly fishing for about a year, so it probably wasn’t the way I remember it. I had a week day off and decided to fish the Pere Marquette River. I thought I would miss the weekend overcrowding and the aluminum super hatch that way.

The subject of natural food organisms has filled many volumes, and there is no way that I can do the subject justice in just a couple of pages. Therefore the following will be a quick look at the most common food organisms found in stillwater fisheries.

AIRFLO SWITCH COMBO
Switch rods seem to be a fast growing part of fly fishing and I can now see why. This style of fishing is just so versatile, with one set up and a few poly leaders I now have a system that will Spey cast, overhead cast, Czech nymph, indicator nymph, wet line and Salt water fly and all for less than $500NZ!

BAKLAVA
The recipe says "This freezes well" and that is true. I put each leftover piece in a small Glad-type container and they taste fresh when I thaw them. Leftovers are not a problem, however! I hope you make this and enjoy it. It is time-consuming but not difficult.

SUNSET SULFUR
They say that necessity is the mother of invention. Such is the case with this fly. I created it out of frustration. The ‘sulfur’ patterns in the fly shops on my home waters, were not matching the color of the ‘sulfurs’ I was seeing on the waters.
