NAME: Ralph Waldo Walden
OCCUPATION: Prose poet, ectopian
RESIDENCE: "I don't believe in property."
AGE: 44 (What did I do during the '60s? Hey . . .I was the '60s.")
QUOTE: "Communing with trout is almost as good as two tabs of Purple
Microdot."
Ralph is a strong advocate of The Trout Fishing Experience. Shedding
the shackles of society and just being there with the trout - catching is
optional - is the object of the game. Heck, you don't even need a rod.
Ralph makes his own rods - "There's no better rod material than Mother
Nature, dude." Whatever happens to be available at streamside is fair
game; sometimes it's a willow switch, and other times it's a 25-foot
tree branch. Lousy feel, but a hell of a backcast. Ralph won't tie any
patterns that requires using material that has been killed by man, which
leaves him with pink chenille and tinsel. Ralph doesn't catch a lot of
fish.
But it's not the fish; it's being out there, rapping with the
browns and the brookies and getting good vibes from the
stream and the insects and nature.
And the Purple Microdot. ~ Jack Ohman
